Luis Enrique and his lament for Spain’s draw against Germany: “We let the classification slip away”

The Spanish team beat Germany 1-0 and qualified for the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar 2022, however, in the final minutes, the Teutonic team tied (83′). The technical director of the ‘Red’, Luis Enrique, knows that nothing has been decided in group E and, therefore, he regretted not ensuring the pass to the next round.

“We have competed at the highest level, with ambition and I am sure that when I see the game repeated tomorrow I will be satisfied (…) It is a strange, sad feeling, because we have let the classification slip away”said the former Barcelona coach at a press conference.

The strategist mentioned what had to happen to achieve the three points. “I liked the attitude and the intention, not speculating is what characterizes us and we have maximum confidence in what we do and how we do it. We have lacked more confidence to go and do more damage to Germany ”he declared.

In the same way, Luis Enrique referred to how even the group is after Costa Rica’s victory over Japan. In this sense, he pointed out that an equality against the Japanese team will be enough to qualify, although he will seek victory anyway.

“In theory this was the group of death. In the first two days they tell us that we are going to be leaders and we depend on us and it is worth it until there is a draw, I would sign it. against Japan The tie is worth it but we are not going to speculate ”he added.

When is Spain vs. Japan?

The Spanish team will face Japan this Thursday, December 1 at 2 pm (Peruvian time). With a victory, the ‘Red’ secures its place in the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar 2022, while Germany and Costa Rica play in the other match.
