Alfaro, satisfied with the level of Ecuador: “This is a team with more future than present”

The Ecuadorian team showed a good performance in the first two dates of Group A of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, but lost on the final day against Senegal (2-1) and said goodbye to the tournament. The premature elimination generated a deep regret in the ‘Tri’, although the coach Gustavo Alfaro was optimistic with the team in the face of the upcoming challenges.

“This leaves us with little flavor, we wanted to continue on this path, we all have pain. We must not lose sight of the litter of these boys and that this experience will serve them for the future. I have no doubt that these guys will have their revenge later on.”were the first words of the DT in a press conference.

“They went for details (the defeat). Senegal’s second goal hurt, because our squad was doing well on the field. This is a young generation of players, a team with more future than present. Hopefully these battles will serve you tomorrow”added the Argentine strategist.

In this sense, Gustavo Alfaro was asked if he will be willing to continue commanding the Ecuadorian team, after the great results obtained in his term. Despite the positive overall balance, the coach did not confirm his continuity on the ‘Tri’ bench.

“I have strong feelings about the elimination. This is a moment of pain, I think that talking about it would not be appropriate. Some time ago I met with the Federation to talk, but it is not appropriate right now. Personally, I need time to know what I’m going to do with my professional career. Today I have to stop the ball and see if I want to continue directing or not”said the DT.
