World Cup: Nuno Mendes, injured, not sure until the end of the competition

The pictures of his exit on Monday night, during the first period of the match against Uruguay, did not bode well. After bursting into tears in the 42nd minute after feeling pain in his thigh, Nuno Mendes did not immediately put on the Portugal jersey as expected.

According to the Portuguese press, PSG’s left flank is already ineligible for their team’s third match against South Korea on Friday afternoon (4:00 p.m.). And the news about his physical condition is not very reassuring as Nuno Mendes will suffer the same injury that saw him sit out for three weeks at the Parisian club in October. The 20-year-old Portuguese suffered a hamstring injury during a match against Benfica in the Champions League.

Selesão’s medical staff did not reveal the duration of his unavailability, but given the nature of this injury, his participation after the World Cup appears to be compromised while his selection qualifies for the 8th final.

Already absent from the first leg against Ghana due to muscle fatigue, Nuno Mendes only completed one training session before returning to the field on Monday against Uruguay. A quick and too sudden return to competition given his state of form.

The FIFA World Cup for PSG’s Portuguese players is proving to be more than difficult at the moment. Danilo Pereira, who played against Ghana but conceded a goal, is also in the hospital with a broken rib. His return may take place during the 1/8 finals. The last Parisian to be called up for this World Cup in Qatar, midfielder Vitinha remained on the bench for the first two matches. He could benefit from a few minutes against South Korea.
