Chelsea and Manchester United could reportedly join Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries in January.

Dumfries is currently active internationally at the World Cup, where he played every minute of the Dutch season in Qatar.

The right-back made his European debut last year, scoring twice in the group stage before earning a £12 million transfer to Inter.

His reputation has only grown in Serie A and Dumfries has been linked with a major move to the Premier League this summer, with Chelsea and United keen to make use of him.

The 26-year-old eventually stayed in Milan, but Italian outlet Calciomercato now claim that both the Blues and Red Devils will lure him to Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford respectively when the transfer window reopens.

A deal for the Dumfries sides will not come cheap, however, as Inter values the defender, whose contract expires in 2025, at around €50m.

Chelsea are keen to sign another right back to replace Reece James who, while a huge talent, has struggled with injuries in recent seasons.

Dumfries stands out for his physical qualities and is more often used as a right-back, which Graham Potter would like.

United manager Erik ten Hag has made it clear that he wants a new right back as soon as possible. He once stated that Diogo Dalot was the only player in that position at the club, effectively confirming that Aaron Wan-Bissaka had no future at Manchester.

Dumfries started his career in the Netherlands and could rely on Ten Hag, who preferred to attract players with Eredivisie experience.

These include Antony, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and also Frenkie de Jong and Cody Gakpo.

For the time being, Dumfries hopes to secure a place in the last 16 for the Netherlands against host country Qatar on Tuesday.
