World Cup 2022: Neymar ‘cried all night’ after injury

Neymar is better, thanks for him. He scored a penalty on Monday night for a comeback with Brazil against South Korea (4-1). But he feared his World Cup would end shortly after it started when he injured his ankle in the first game against Serbia on 24 November.

“I was very scared because I really believed in myself after a good start to the season. It was very painful to get injured like that,” said the Paris SG star striker, who was unable to play against Serbia (1-0) and Cameroon (lost 1-0).

“I cried all night after that, but in the end everything worked out. It was worth staying until 11:00 the next day with a physiotherapist, then every day after, ”he added to the TV Globo microphone.

“This time it’s time to move on”

Against South Korea, the 30-year-old Neymar started and scored the second goal from a penalty kick in a win that allowed Brazil to reach the quarter-finals. He thus became the third Selecao player to score in three different World Cups, after Pelé and Ronaldo.

“I am very proud to achieve records that I could not even dream of,” he admitted, before projecting himself onto the rest of the competition. “This time it’s time to move on. We dream of the title, of course, but we have to go step by step. Three games left, we are ready and focused on winning this trophy. »

Neymar also wanted to send a message of support to Pele, who is suffering from cancer and has been hospitalized for a week. “It’s hard to talk about it, but I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery. I hope we consoled him with our victory, ”said the striker. At the end of the round of 16 against South Korea, Neymar and his teammates carried a banner reading “Pele! and a photo of The King during his third world title in 1970.
