Players and DT from Japan say goodbye to the fans after the elimination from the World Cup | VIDEO

The Japanese team pleasantly surprised during the Qatar 2022 World Cup, after winning their group with victories over Germany (2-1) and Spain (2-1), coming back from behind on both occasions, but could not repeat what was done in the round of 16 : was eliminated on penalties against Croatia, after drawing 1-1. After the defeat, the team starred in an emotional scene with their fans.

The Japanese team was accompanied by a large number of fans at each match and the duel on the pitch at Al Wakrah’s Al Janoub Stadium was no exception. Throughout the 120 minutes of activity plus maximum penalties, the fans did not stop rooting for the players.

However, the color in the stands could not be set up on the pitch, as Takumi Minamino, Kaoru Mitoma and Maya Yoshida all missed their shots before giant goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic. When the fall of the Japanese team was consummated, the sadness was evident, both in the players and in the fans.

Precisely, seeing the tears of his coaches, the coach Hajime Moriyasu decided to intervene: he brought everyone together, organized a circle and gave a motivational talk. The athletes, trying to contain their tears, listened attentively, while the chants accompanied them from the stands of the sports venue.

After the emotional conversation, all the members of the Japan team approached the stands to thank the support, with applause and a gesture of reverence. Despite the elimination, the Asian team left a great image in the World Cup.

Let’s remember that the Japanese say goodbye to Qatar 2022 with only one defeat on their record: they stumbled against the representative of Costa Rica (1-0), on the second date of the group stage. In this sense, there is a detail that the technical command headed by Moriyasu will have to correct: he always conceded goals, which reflects fragility in defense.
