World Cup: Hugo Lloris is France’s top scorer

This Saturday night, Hugo Lloris definitely made history in French football. Six days after he equaled the Blues’ tackle record with Lilian Thuram, he was surpassed in the 8th final against Poland by France’s doorman. Having netted France against England in the World Cup quarter-finals, the 35-year-old captain of the world champions will be honored with his 143rd cap. This record has been held since 2008 by a centre-back.

Hugo Lloris began his career with France in November 2008 during a friendly match against Uruguay. Since then, the Tottenham goalkeeper has barely left that starting position against the Blues until he inherited the captain’s armband in November 2010. A real part of the French selection and Didier Deschamps’ privileged relay, Lloris has the Euro 2016 final and the 2018 world title to his credit.
