The former Brazilian soccer player Edson Arantes do Nascimento ‘Pele’ “He continues in the fight,” said one of his daughters this Friday, after knowing the worsening of his state of health.
“We are still here, in the fight and with faith. One more night together, ”Kely Nascimento wrote on Instagram, along with a photo of her hugging her father in the Sao Paulo hospital bed where the 82-year-old former striker is hospitalized.
This is the first photo of Pelé since his doctors reported two days ago that his cancer had advanced, causing “dysfunctions” in his kidneys and heart.
After learning about the worsening health of the three-time world champion, his daughters announced that they will spend Christmas in the hospital, where Pelé has been hospitalized since November 29.
Pelé was hospitalized to evaluate a change in chemotherapy treatment, which he had been receiving since a colon tumor was detected last September.
Days later, the hospital reported that it was also treating him for a respiratory infection that, according to his daughters, he suffered as a result of covid-19.
Last Wednesday, the doctors reported a worsening of the cancer and said that the former soccer player “requires greater care related to kidney and heart dysfunction.”
