The Franciscans win the VYV Cup and establish their dominance over Martinique football.

Goal in the 113th minute by captain Stefan Abaul. This is how the Franciscans won 1-0 on Saturday, January 21, during the final of the VYV Cup (formerly the Antillean League), which was held in Guadeloupe. Martinique met the reigning champions, the Guadeloupe of CS Moulien. “We had to wear them down,” said coach Patrick Cavelan.

In fact, having experienced some difficulties in the first part of the game, the Franciscans won in the second period. “We said that our goal is to bring the cup home, and it’s done,” striker Stefan Abaul smiles.

An additional title that adds to the list of the most beautiful Martinique footballers. Founded in 1936 and based in François, the Vert et Noir club has won the 18th Copa Martinique in its history in 2022 and has at least 19 Martinique titles.

“Our main strength is the versatility of our players,” analyzes Patrick Cavelan. The club has players who have played in the selection, such as Stefan Abaul, Yann Timon or Sebastien Lepel, whose reputation is second to none. In 2021, it also became the first club from the French West Indies to reach the round of 16 of the Coupe de France.
