Jakub Kiwior has revealed why he chose Arsenal after the club officially announced the arrival of the Polish international from Italy’s Spezia.

The 22-year-old centre-back is Mikel Arteta’s second signing in January and has come to North London for £20 million.

Kiwior, who has played nine caps for Poland and impressed in Serie A, has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Emirates with an option for a further year.

He started in all four of Poland’s games at the World Cup in Qatar and follows Leandro Trossard on his way to Arsenal this month – who joined Brighton for £27million.

Kiwior spoke to club media following his move to Arsenal and explained the reasons for his mid-season move. He revealed that the Gunners’ style of football was a big factor.

“When I saw my name on an Arsenal shirt for the first time, I had to laugh!” said Kiwior. “I was so happy to see my name on the shirt of such a big club.

“For me it is an incredible moment of happiness and the highlight of playing for such a big club.

“I always dreamed of playing in the Premier League. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy and if I got the chance I should make the best of it because it was one of my biggest dreams. me it’s the best game I love to be here.

“It’s huge for me that Arsenal were interested and I can be here. I’m aware that Arsenal are a big club in a top league so I didn’t really have to worry about that anymore. I was just really happy and really wanted to come.

“I love playing on the ball. I like teams that move the ball and try to create chances. That’s why I’m glad I ended up in such a team.”

Arsenal are five points clear at the top of the Premier League after beating Manchester United on Sunday. There is one more game to be played against Manchester City.
