Bruno Martini knows his pain. According to our information, the president of the National Handball League, who was detained by police on Monday, will be sentenced this Wednesday to one year of probation for corrupting a minor, possessing and acquiring images of child pornography. Former France national handball goalkeeper, 1995 and 2001 world champion accepts sentence offered by Paris court prosecutor in CRPC. He also receives a €2,500 fine and a five-year ban on classes with minors. Now the verdict is to be confirmed in the afternoon during a hearing before the judge.

Bruno Martini was the subject of an investigation launched in June 2020 by the Paris prosecutor’s office and handed over to the Brigade for the Protection of Minors (BPM). The former PSG Handball player and general manager was discussing several minors via Snapchat at the time. He used this social network to share nude photos with a teenager who was 12 at the time. Then Bruno Martini offered to come to his Parisian house for sexual relations, not knowing, according to him, the exact age of his interlocutor. The teenager would change his mind once at the bottom of his building before returning home in a VTC paid by a former player.

“He acknowledges the facts and regrets them”

Arrested on Monday, Bruno Martini was sent on Tuesday evening for his CRPC. He was prosecuted for child molestation and possession of child pornography. “It was an agreed exchange, without any restrictions and without consideration,” emphasizes his lawyer Me Eli Dottelonde. Mr. Martini acknowledges the facts, regrets them and will take responsibility. The CPC procedure adopted by the prosecution shows that this is not a monster. I also regret that my client did not take advantage of the secrecy of the investigation. »

The guilty plea procedure makes it possible to obtain a mitigation of punishment for convicts. In this case, Bruno Martini was threatened with up to five years in prison. Taking over as head of the National Handball League in 2021, his future at the head of the organization is being discussed but seems doomed.*

“Like everyone this morning, I am deeply shocked by this information that the justice system has received. The handball leadership quickly mobilized and at 13:00 gathered around the exclusive NHL steering committee in the presence of the French handball federation, Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castera explained on Twitter. I have full confidence that they will make all the necessary decisions, both in terms of disciplinary action and future management. »

I obviously have a very touched thought about the boy and his family, who at the time of the alleged facts had a good reflex to contact the police. I fully support them,” the minister concluded.
