Nations League: Netherlands-Croatia and Spain-Italy in the semi-finals in June

Who will replace France in the list of the League of Nations? This Wednesday, the draw for the semi-finals of European competition gave rise to duels between the Netherlands-Croatia and Spain-Italy.

The Dutch, hosts of this “Final 4”, will open the ball in Rotterdam on June 14 against the Croats, followed by Spain-Italy in Enschede the following day. This second meeting has already become the poster of the last semi-final of the event. La Roja won in Milan in October 2021 (2:1) before joining France in the final.

After defending the title with a stunning 2-1 win against the Spaniards, the Blues were eliminated in the group stage, finishing behind Croatia and Denmark with only one win in six games.

The small final will take place on Sunday 18 June in Enschede (15:00), followed by the final on the same day in Rotterdam (20:45). This third UEFA event was created in 2018 to breathe new life into traditional national team friendlies. Before the French team, Portugal were the first winner of the tournament, beating the Netherlands (1: 0), new qualifications for the Final 4.

The Nations League is offering the winner an honorary trophy and will allow three teams to qualify for Euro 2024 (June 14-July 14) after the play-offs organized at the end of the regular qualifying round.
