“B-plans not so much”: according to Anne Hidalgo, PSG cannot leave the Parc des Princes

The conflict between PSG and the mayor of Paris is not going to stop. This Thursday, invited to Telematine by Thomas Sotto, Anna Hidalgo, mayor (PS) of Paris, was asked about the recent disagreements with PSG and its president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

“Of course, I understand the economics of a club of this level where stadium ownership is part of the economic equation,” said Hidalgo. I heard, but the Parc des Princes is not for sale.” At the insistence of France 2 journalist Anne Hidalgo even brings to mind: “Of course. On the other hand, of course, what about my club, because this is my club, PSG, and its president (Nasser Al-Khelaifi), we have to talk to each other.”

This formula made Romain Mabil, the leader of the Parisian ultras-collective, shudder. “This is not your club, not your city and not your stadium!!!!” he wrote on Instagram. “If you want to be a star, we’ll put you in the spotlight soon.”

A little further on, Anne Hidalgo is confident that PSG will stay at the Parc des Princes. “You know, I don’t think there are many B plans,” Hidalgo said. And at the mention of the Stade de France, the opportunity expressed by Emmanuel Macron, the mayor of Paris, is unequivocal: “I wish him good luck in selling the Stade de France. This assumption is often mentioned in the media, but I think it is an unreasonable assumption. The Stade de France should not only host competitions associated with one club.

If Anne Hidalgo reaffirms her stance that the Parc des Princes is not for sale, she has also declared her love for the club in a rather unprecedented way. “I think we need to get out of this situation. I love this club, I want PSG to prosper. If there is work to be done, it must be done. I will accompany this work as much as I can, because I care about this team and their performance. For the rest, this is a discussion that we should have in a reasonable way between reasonable people.
