Klopp after being thrashed by Real Madrid: “I think the tie is over”

jurgen kloppLiverpool coach, assured that “right now” the tie is over, but warned that there are three weeks left for the return at the Santiago Bernabéu.

“I think the tie is over right now. We’ll see in three weeks. A loss is a loss, what I tell the players is that they have to learn from it. We have to improve a lot, but we have to take the good things with us too, now we have a difficult match against Crystal Palace and there are three weeks left for the return”, Klopp said at a press conference.

Asked about the keys to the defeat, Klopp mentioned the entry of Nacho Fernández as one of the most important moments.

“Nacho came out and he was incredible. That is why he has been playing for Real Madrid for so many years. Because of that defensive level”, added the German coach.

“Our start to the match was impressive. We were in a bubble. Exactly how we wanted to start. Then they marked us. We give away five goals. The first goal we were very passive, we did not chase them. The second was a mistake. It shouldn’t happen, but it can happen. 3-2, as we defended, is not right. It was already 3-2 and that result doesn’t help against a team that is fantastic on the counterattack”.

“They gained a lot of confidence and scored good goals for us. A rebound, is what it is. We could not recover more the course of the game. You have to play during the 95 minutes as in the first part. We have to keep the ‘momentum’, we lost it and we can’t get it back”.
