Manchester City: another Haaland hat-trick, scorer of eight goals this week

Erling Haaland will remember this week for a long time. Undoubtedly, one of the most productive in his career. After a resounding five on Tuesday against Leipzig (7-0) in the Champions League, the Norwegian cyborg scored a hat-trick against Burnley in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

It took him fifty-nine minutes, which is still 14 more than on Tuesday in C1. But this is not enough to remove any semblance of obscurity from the match. First, he beat opposing goalkeeper Julián Alvarez in his debut and opened the scoring (1-0, 32nd), and three minutes later he received a pass from Phil Foden to the far post (2-0, 35th) and took the shot, again from Foden, who was deflected by the goalkeeper and thrown away by the post (3-0, 59th).

Alvarez doubled off a serve from Kevin de Bruyne (4-0, 62nd) and went head-to-head with poor Bailey Peacock-Farrell (6-0, 73rd). Meanwhile, young Cole Palmer, who had replaced Haaland five minutes earlier, scored his first professional goal (5-0, 68th).

The Painful Defeat of Former Citizen Vincent Kompany

If a return to the Premier League for last summer’s relegated Burnley is all but guaranteed as they are 13 points clear of second-placed Sheffield United, this defeat will be painful. This is all the more important for Vincent Kompany, his manager, who spent eleven years, including eight as captain, at City, winning four league titles.

But there was nothing to be done against these townspeople, who could still challenge for the Premier League title with Arsenal and who would play Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The remaining three quarters will be played on Sunday, including a very tempting elite duel between Manchester United and Fulham (17:30). Sheffield Unted and Blackburn Rovers will open the ball at 13:00 in a D2 clash, while Tom Thumb, Grimsby Town, resident of League Two (D4), will try his luck in Brighton at 15:15.
