Lille supporters under close surveillance for the derby against Lens

A “risky” encounter. Saturday, at 5 p.m., will take place the meeting between the Racing club of Lens (RCL) and the reigning French Champion, Losc. For the supporters of both teams, this first derby is the match not to be missed. A major issue considered by the authorities as a potential vector for disturbing public order. The prefect of Pas-de-Calais took, this Tuesday, an order governing the movement of Losc supporters for the meeting against the RCL. Drastic measures that the representative of the State justifies by the mobilization of the police to ensure the “terrorist threat which remains current and significant” which must not be diverted by fights of supporters. The “security forces” have reported a “heavy dispute” between the supporters of the two teams classifying this match in the category “at risk”.

From Friday, 5 pm until the time of the meeting, the supporters of Lille and Lens will not be able “to go to the districts of Arras and Béthune so as not to harm the preparation of the teams”. On match day, Losc fans without a ticket will be persona non grata in a large part of the Lens district. Those with a ticket will have to assemble in Vendin-le-Vieil to then join the stadium supervised by the police.
