Yvelines: An Algerian international footballer is in police custody for the attempted murder of his sister.

From the spotlights of football stadiums to the darkness of his cell at the police station. The 31-year-old Algerian international was arrested on Sunday night at his parents’ home in Morepa (Yvelines), where he was vacationing. After attacking Qatari club Al-Gharafa SC, he got into a fight with his 15-year-old sister before being taken into police custody in Trappe for “attempted murder”.

The player, who trained at Trapp and PSG, played for Olympique Lyon, then in Italy and Germany before ending his career in Qatar. Since 2013, he has nineteen caps for the Algerian national team.

The French-Algerian was vacationing in the family home. Before the fight, he quarreled with his younger sister and even tried to strangle her. Around 6:45 p.m., the girl called the police. Officials found numerous red marks on his neck and scratches on his forearms.

Her sister has not yet filed a complaint.

The athlete was placed in police custody at the Elancur city security office to prevent any escape attempt. But so far, his sister had not pushed open the door of the police station to write a statement, as he was asked.

The reasons for this domestic violence are still unclear. The investigation continues to shed light on this case. The young man will be interrogated by investigators, and the prosecutor’s office of Versailles has 48 hours to decide what to do with this case.
