The metropolis of Lyon therefore validates the compatibility of the local urban plan (PLU) concerning the private Arena project dear to JMA but also to the president of Asvel Tony Parker. The former industrial wasteland of Décines will now be able to be converted into “a multifunctional place welcoming culture, sport, e-sport, major events and matches of the Asvel basketball team in the Euroleague”.
A project estimated at around 100 million euros
We are still talking about a capacity of up to 16,000 spectators, with “delivery planned to the OL Vallée site by the end of 2023”. The OL specifies in particular that “the roof of the Arena should be made up of a vegetated surface, as well as photovoltaic panels” and that “a policy of integration of people remote from employment within the framework of the Arena project. The cost of this 14,500 m2 Arena is estimated at around 100 million euros.
