  • South American Soccer Confederation (CONMEBOL): 6 direct places – 1 place for play-offs
  • Oceania Football Confederation (OFC): 1 direct place – 1 place for play-offs
  • Union of European Football Associations (UEFA): 16 direct places – 0 places for play-offs

How is the repechage for the 2026 World Cup defined?

A tournament will be played in the United States, in 2025, which will award two slots to the World Cup in Mexico, the United States and Canada through this new system.

The six teams will be matched by the position of the FIFA Ranking of that year, the first two of the tournament classify the World Cup 2026.
