And eight more! France’s National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) confirmed on Friday eight new competitors selected for the Games, represented by the canoeing, gymnastics and weightlifting federations. In canoe-kayak, Angel Hugues, 23, and Boris Neve, 38, confirmed their quota obtained last weekend in canoeing during the Olympic qualifying tournament in Prague. Particular competition for the almost forty-year-old athlete was Mathurin Madore, the winner of the World Cup in Aussburg in early June.

Chances of medals in weightlifting

In gymnastics, France will be able to count on its Tokyo flag bearer Samir Ait Said to take part in the rings competition. In Japan in 2021, he finished straight off the podium. In individual rhythmic gymnastics competitions this summer, 19-year-old Hélène Karbanova, the recent French champion at the beginning of June, will try her luck.

Finally, the French Weightlifting Federation announced four representatives for the Games. The 2022 European champion Dora Chakunte (up to 59 kg) will be accompanied by the experienced Marie-Joseph Feg (up to 71 kg). On the men’s side, Bernardin King Matam (-73kg) will compete in his fourth Games, while Romain Imadouchen (-89kg), the 2022 world clean and jerk champion, will make his Olympic debut.
