Paolo Guerrero He is not going through his best sporting moment, after his debut in Peruvian soccer with the César Vallejo University shirt and an injury that did not allow him to play the last games with his club.

Despite this, the coach of the Peruvian team, Jorge Fossati, considers him a key piece in the red and white team and he was summoned for the Copa América.

Precisely, Conmebol highlighted its arrival in the North American country where it will play its sixth edition in the aforementioned continental tournament.

If he plays a match in the tournament he will equal José ‘Chemo’ del Solar and Teodoro ‘Lolo’ Fernández as the Peruvian with the most editions (6) played. Guerrero competed in the 2007, 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2019 editions.

  • He currently has 25 games in this tournament: if he plays two games he will equal Yoshimar Yotún with 27. If he plays three he will become the Peruvian with the most appearances in the history of the oldest national team tournament in the world.
  • Paolo has scored 14 goals in the tournament and by scoring just one he will reach Teodoro ‘Lolo’ Fernández as the top Peruvian scorer in the competition.
  • If Guerrero scores 3 goals in the tournament, he will be able to reach the top scorers that this competition has in more than 100 years of history: Norberto Méndez (Argentine) and Zizinho (Brazilian).

Peru debuts this Friday, June 21, against Chile, in Group A of the tournament, a series that it also shares with Argentina and Canada.
