16-year-old handball player suffers from brain hemorrhage after shock during match

A young 16-year-old handball player from Saint-Raphaël Var HB (SRVHB) had to be evacuated to hospital after a violent shock. The victim was playing a match with his team this Saturday evening at the Jean-François-Krakowski sports center in Saint-Raphaël (Var), reports
Var-Matin.

After the shock, the player came to his senses and found his teammates “for one to two minutes before leaving the field and losing consciousness in the infirmary”, we detailed to our colleagues. The teenager was then transported to Bonnet hospital in Fréjus.

Released from the intensive care unit

Victim of a cerebral hemorrhage, he was urgently helicoptered overnight to the Lenval hospital in Nice. The doctors were to keep him under observation and decide on a possible operation.

The SRVHB club gave news of its player on Monday, on its Facebook page. “He left the intensive care unit and remains under constant surveillance in the hospital”, one can read.
