The former forward of Italian nationality, Fabrizio Miccoli, will go to jail for the crime of aggravated extortion. The 42-year-old former soccer player was sentenced by the Supreme Court of his country to three years and six months in prison, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The former footballer has been convicted of a case that happened more than ten years ago when he requested aggravated extortion from Mauro Lauricella, son of the Palermo mafia boss, who was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Miccoli reportedly tried to recover 12,000 euros “with violence and threats” from Andrea Graffagnini, owner of the Paparazzi nightclub in Isola delle Femmine.
