Barcos, Bustos and Alianza Lima prevailed at the Peruvian level in the El País survey

Alianza Lima’s 2021 campaign has been very successful, as it was the strongest team in League 1, led by coach Carlos Bustos. Finally, the La Victoria club managed to proclaim itself national champion and the good performance has also been reflected in the awards they received through the survey carried out by the newspaper El País of Uruguay.

As happens annually, the prestigious media opened a vote for all of America, where people could intervene, with the intention of highlighting the most decisive characters. This Friday, December 31, the results were revealed and in Peruvian football there was a clear dominator.

According to the final balance of the survey, Alianza Lima was chosen as the best club in its original tournament in 2021, which was reflected in the statistics it harvested: it won 17 games, drew nine and only fell twice. In addition, he accumulated 40 goals in favor and only 17 against.

The spectacular level was the result of the work of coach Carlos Bustos, who precisely also took first place in the voting in his category within the Peruvian championship. Throughout the season, the strategist focused on giving his team a solid idea of ​​the game, taking more care of the defense and attacking at the right times.

Precisely, in the offensive aspect, Hernán Barcos was the main star of the ‘Blanquiazul’ team and was imposed as the best player at League 1 level: he scored 10 goals in 28 appearances. The last goal of the ‘Pirata’ was the most decisive, since it was worth to impose conditions on Sporting Cristal in the first final for the title.
