Good news for Atlético de Madrid on the eve of the LaLiga Santander match against Rayo Vallecano. The club reported this Sunday that Diego Simeone was authorized to sit on the substitutes’ bench, after a case of coronavirus. The technician tested positive last Thursday, but new tests came out with a negative result.

“Diego Pablo Simeone will lead our team from the Wanda Metropolitano bench in the derby against Rayo Vallecano after receiving authorization from LaLiga”, indicated a brief note shared by the ‘Colchoneros’ before measuring the whole of the strip in the resumption of the domestic championship.

“The Ministry of Health of the Community of Madrid issued a report in which it considered his case of COVID-19 resolved and that enabled him to sit on the bench this afternoon”Atlético de Madrid explained about the case of ‘Cholo’ Simeone, who had commented that he felt in good condition.

“First, we go for the most important thing which is health. I feel perfect. Yesterday (Friday) I took the test again in a laboratory that is not the LaLiga one and I tested negative. Today (Saturday) I repeated the test with LaLiga and we are waiting for the result to be with the team “, said the technician in a press conference.

Since it was positive, Simeone stayed out of the whole team and performed isolation at home. The coach did not accompany the team in most of the activities to face the clash against Vallecas. However, the DT obtained the go-ahead after performing the new tests that were negative.

With the Argentine strategist, the players Antoine Griezmann, Joao Félix, Koke Resurrección and Héctor Herrera were also reported as infected. Unlike DT, the four players are still confined to their homes and hope to return in time to face the Spanish Super Cup.

Without them and other casualties due to injury (Marcos Llorente and Stefan Savic), the ‘Cholo’ Simeone chose his first eleven of 2022: Jan Oblak; Kieran Trippier, José María Giménez, Mario Hermoso, Renan Lodi; Geoffrey Kondogbia, Rodrigo De Paul; Yannick Carrasco, Thomas Lemar, Ángel Correa and Luis Suárez.
