He is six years old and seeing him on a kart that reaches 90 kilometers per hour provokes a mixture of admiration, disbelief and fear. Mateo García Patiño is a boy from Mexico who has won several races in karting and dreams of being a star of Formula 1. This is his history.

Born in the State of Mexico and the son of ex-driver Pepe Montaño, little Mateo started in the world of karting at three and a half years of age, when he ran his first official race. In 2020, at the age of four, he was crowned champion in the National Karting Championship of Mexico.

In addition to the five dates of the British Kart Championship, his father and representative is in the process of return for the rematch to the Super 1 Series, in which last year he added three victories in eight dates in the category of up to eight years, in addition to frequent podiums.

Dream about Formula 1

Also known as Mateo Driver on social networks, the little boy was a participant in the Red Bull Show Run CDMX 2021 last November as part of the Grand Prix of Mexico City of Formula 1, sharing on that occasion a few moments with the Mexican driver Checo Pérez.

Mateo, who in 2021 already raced a date of the British Kart Championship, will hold a preseason test from February 16 to 23 in Valencia, Spain. The ultimate dream of the little one is to race in Formula 1 and he will not stop until he achieves it. At 6 years old, Mateo still has a long way to go.

“I am happy to be part of Escudería Telmex Telcel. I will give all my effort to become like the great pilots who have passed through this team. I feel good physically. I trained with the kart in the holidays and I am ready for the preseason tests “, quoted Portal Automotriz.
