Tragedy in the Rally Dakar 2022. On stage 12, the last day of the race, Quentin Lavalée, a French mechanic only 20 years old, died as a result of a fatal accident while driving a PH Sport team assistance vehicle.

As reported by the organizers of the 2022 Dakar Rally through a statement, the accident occurred around 11:30 (local time) at kilometer 234 of the assistance link route.

“This morning at 11:30 am, at km 234 of the assistance link route, there has been an accident between an assistance vehicle and a local truck, as reported by the Local Police. Unfortunately, the driver of the vehicle, Quentin Lavalée, a French national and member of the PH Sport team, has died as a result of the accident. I was 20 years old “, it reads in the first lines of the document published by the Dakar Rally 2022.

“The passenger who was traveling with him, Maxime Frere, a Belgian national, has been injured and has been consciously transferred to the National Guards Hospital in Jeddah where he is undergoing a full review”they add.

Quentin Lavalée He was chief mechanic of the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 vehicle that participated in the Dakar Classic with number 726, which was driven by the Frenchman Rudy Jacquot and with Willy Alcaraz as co-driver.

This unfortunate event comes just in the final stage of the 2022 Daakar Rally in an edition that had been starring in the explosion of a service car of the French team Sodicars Racing on December 30, which left the pilot Philippe Bourton injured and forced to reinforce security in the camps.
