The Peruvian team will face Panama this Sunday in a friendly at the National Stadium (4 pm) in preparation for the life-and-death duels against Colombia and Ecuador for the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers. However, the “Canaleros” announced a casualty for this meeting.

The attacker Abdiel Arroyo will miss the commitment since he tested positive for coronavirus. This was confirmed by the player’s club, Universidad César Vallejo, through their social networks.

“The footballer is asymptomatic and is stable, he is currently isolated from the campus, complying with the corresponding protocols,” The Trujillo institution said in a statement and also thanked the Panama team for showing confidence in their player.

In the same way, the Panamanian Football Federation also confirmed Abdiel Arroyo’s withdrawal through a message on his Twitter account.

As is known, within the call of 22 Central American players, players who play in League 1 stand out, such as Alberto Quintero (Universitario) Abdiel Ayarza and José Fajardo, the latter in Cusco FC.

It is important to mention that the “Red Tide” is also preparing for its duels against Costa Rica and Jamaica for the Concacaf Qualifiers. So far, the squad led by Thomas Christiansen is in fourth place (playoff spot) with 14 units, but two victories would place it in the direct qualification zone.

Peru beat foreigners from League 1 in practice match

Before this Sunday’s game, the Peruvian team played a practice match this Wednesday with a team of foreigners from the League in La Videna. The squad led by Ricardo Gareca won 2-0 with scores from Marcos López and Andy Polo.

Likewise, the ‘Bicolor’ will have a friendly match this Thursday, January 20, against Jamaica at 4 pm at the National Stadium. This will be the last chance for the ‘Tiger’ to test the players.
