Alberto Quintero was the last element that coach Thomas Christiansen needed to have everything ready with a view to Peru vs. Panama on Sunday, January 16 at the National Stadium. This Saturday, the Central American team carried out a light practice and in that session the attacker from Universitario de Deportes appeared.

‘Chiquitín’, who lives in Lima, arrived at José Díaz’s colossus and was welcomed by the technical command and all his teammates. The good vibes with the winger has been reflected in the message shared through the official social networks of the team that is participating in the Concacaf Qualifiers.

“It is reported! With the arrival of Alberto Quintero, Panama’s senior team is now complete and ready for tomorrow’s friendly vs. the Peruvian team. Quintero joined this afternoon for the recognition of the National Stadium in Lima”, says the post in which an image of the 34-year-old soccer player appears.

The ‘U’ striker is not the only one from League 1 who was considered by the ‘Red Tide’ strategist for the preparation commitment. Abdiel Ayarza and José Fajardo, from Cusco FC, are the other nominees. While Abdiel Arroyo, from César Vallejo, was removed from the list after his coronavirus infection was confirmed.

The match between the Peruvian team and Panama is scheduled for four in the afternoon. Latina Televisión and Movistar Deportes will be in charge of broadcasting the first friendly of the Blanquirroja (the other will be on Thursday the 20th against Jamaica). For the clash against the ‘Canaleros’ there will be no public presence in the stands.

Peru vs. Panama: the matches in the Qualifiers

The group coached by Ricardo Gareca will have a one-on-one match against Colombia on Friday, January 28 in Barranquilla from four in the afternoon at the Metropolitano stadium. Then, on Tuesday, February 1, the commitment against Ecuador will take place at the National Stadium. The Peruvian team is in fifth place and, for now, is in the playoff zone.

The Red Tide’ is also preparing for its duels against Costa Rica and Jamaica for the Concacaf Qualifiers. So far, the squad led by Thomas Christiansen is in fourth place (playoff spot) with 14 units, but two wins would place them in the direct qualifying zone.
