The Peruvian team achieved an important victory over Colombia, by date 15 of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, with a goal by Edison Flores. The result was highly celebrated by the ‘Blanquirrojo’ squad and also by the group of fans who arrived at the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium in Barranquilla.

From the day before the game, the fans of the team led by Ricardo Gareca were present outside the hotel, to make their encouragement felt. The scene was repeated again in the sports venue where the actions took place and the support was clearly noted, despite the fact that there was a higher percentage of Colombians.

Precisely, a fan of the ‘Cafetero’ painting was surprised by the scene and shared a clip on social networks. “Peruvians teaching us how to encourage”, he described in his publication, which was also praised by other followers of the Colombian team.

After the final whistle, with the victory of the ‘Blanquirroja’ completed, the Peruvian soccer players approached the sector where the fans were located and celebrated the result with songs. Despite being visitors, there was a big party.

In the same way, Ricardo Gareca praised the encouragement received during the 90 minutes: “I appreciate the support of the fans here in Barranquilla. They cheered us on all day, even a crowd came to the court. In addition, we are happy for all the Peruvians who are in Peru, because they always trust. We want to thank him with good performances. Although today was not good footballing, we gave everything, we left our soul on the field”.

The Peruvian team reached 20 points, after defeating Colombia, and is in fourth position in the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers (direct qualification for the World Cup). On the next date (February 1), those led by Ricardo Gareca will receive Ecuador in Lima, which is in third place with 24 units.
