The native Windows application store, Microsoft Store, has added more than 1,000 new applications and video games after reaching an agreement with the Amazon Appstore, as reported by Microsoft in a statement.

This agreement allows them to use Android mobile applications for the first time through the support of Intel Bridge technology, a function that Windows 11 was announced with but that did not arrive with its initial version in October of last year.

Android app support in Windows 11 is currently only available to users in the United States, although its availability will be extended this year. It is also in preview phase, that is, it is not yet a final feature.

“These apps feel like a part of Windows, integrating naturally with Windows input and window experiences, like instant layouts”as explained by Microsoft’s product manager, Panos Panay.

Microsoft has also shared the rest of the news that lands in Windows 11, a system to which it has promised to deliver functions more frequently and apart from the main annual updates.

The launches start with the taskbar, which this month will receive a series of improvements to see more information and facilitate access to actions.

Among these new options from the taskbar are mute, unmute or share, aimed at facilitating video calls without having to switch between windows, as well as a quick view of the weather ‘widget’.

Windows 11 has also received other features such as the option to add the clock to a second monitor, while two native system applications have been redesigned: the Notepad notes and the Media Player.

Media Player has been updated with a revamped music library to make it easier to manage playlists and automatically display all video and audio files on your PC.

For its part, Notepad adapts to the design of the operating system, switching to dark mode if the user has enabled it in the system, or with the option to modify the theme manually.
