Ferrari will launch its first electric sports car and aims for 80% of its cars to be like this by 2030

The 100% electric and hybrid models should represent 60% of the production of the luxury car manufacturer Ferrari by 2026 and 80% by 2030, its general director, Benedetto Vigna, announced on Thursday.

“Electrification is a way to improve the performance” of Ferrari cars, Vigna said, during the presentation of the group’s new strategic plan for 2022-2026 in Maranello, the Ferrari headquarters located in northern Italy.

Vigna also confirmed that Ferrari’s first 100% electric vehicle would be unveiled in 2025, as planned.

“Ferrari’s first fully electric car will be 100% sporty,” said the brand’s commercial director, Enrico Galliera, in an interview with AFP.

“We are going to develop an electric car that will provide the same emotions as when driving a traditional Ferrari,” he promised.

The manufacturer plans to expand its production plant in Maranello and create a third production line for the manufacture of hybrid and electric vehicles.

The production of hybrid and electric motors as well as the development of electric batteries will be done in a new plant building.

“The construction of that unit will be ready by 2025″, just in time to launch the first electric model, assured Galliera.

Investments should reach more than 4,600 million dollars accumulated during the 2022-2026 period, of which approximately 75% will be dedicated to product development and 25% to infrastructure.

By 2026, 40% of investments dedicated to products will go to hybrid cars and 35% to electric vehicles, details Ferrari’s new strategic plan.
