Google will encrypt passwords on your device: how do I activate this feature?

Google has implemented a way to encrypt the passwords of its users. In this way, your device will serve as the way to lock each key when it is stored in the Password Manager. That is, no one can use them without your permission.

“When encryption on the device is configured, your passwords can only be used on the device using your Google password or a compatible device’s screen lock. With encryption on the device, only you will be able to access your passwords”, the company pointed out about this new way to increase security.

This encryption is not implemented immediately on user devices. It is an additional tool that Google offers in case people want to protect their passwords more. When activated, these will have to unlock the password using the device’s security mechanism, such as fingerprint, PIN or facial recognition, for example.

However, this also has drawbacks, as if you lose your Google password, you won’t be able to access the rest of your keys. This is because Google, like other companies, wants to eliminate these accesses and move to a single password that cannot be “stolen” by cybercriminals.
