Uber: shared rides are back, but only for some places

The company announced that the ride-sharing alternative is back. Now this option has been dubbed UberX Share and is available in US cities including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Phoenix, San Diego, Portland, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh.

Nevertheless, Uber He explained that he hopes to expand UberX Share to more cities this summer.

Ridesharing was removed from the app in 2020 with the arrival of the pandemic. With the return of this option for 2022, Uber listened to the feedback of drivers and passengers, to redesign and fix reported issues of various pilots around the world.

These are the news for UberX Share

Riders will receive an upfront discount if they choose UberX Share, and will get up to 20 percent discount on the total rateif they are paired up with a co-traveler on the way.

To prevent pickups and drop-offs from causing unexpected delays, only passengers heading in the same direction will be matched. “We have designed UberX Share to that riders arrive no more than 8 minutes after a ride on UberX”, explained the company.

By helping to put more people in fewer cars faster, you can help reduce your use of gasoline, vehicle miles and passenger emissions, and make transportation more affordable. Finally, users who request the service will only be able to occupy one seat in the vehicle, not two, as was previously allowed.
