Elon Musk wants to make some paid videos on the social network

The arrival of Elon Musk at the head of Twitter completely upsets the functioning of the social network. Latest information: the billionaire would like to develop an option to offer paid videos, reports 01net.

the washington post was able to consult an e-mail exchanged internally by Twitter employees about this potential novelty. The idea would be to develop a paywall that content creators could activate. Social network users would then have to pay a certain amount to view the video.

A copyright issue

The feature, called “Paywalled Video”, is already under development. The price of a video could range from 1 to 10 dollars and a percentage would obviously be taken by Twitter, but it is unknown how high. This would allow the social network to free itself from advertisers, because advertising is now its main source of income.

This novelty wanted by Elon Musk is not viewed favorably by Twitter employees. Executives are particularly concerned that the feature will push some users to publish more pornographic content by protecting themselves through the paywall. The issue of sharing copyrighted videos is also pending.

In the immediate future, the new option will not appear on the platform. Twitter employees are planning a review of the feature before it rolls out to avoid any pitfalls. On the other hand, the paid subscription allowing to obtain the certification is imminent. Elon Musk would have even advised his new employees to work up to 84 hours a week to develop it as quickly as possible.
