The richest man in the world, a magnate of the technology and master and lord of the social networks. Elon Musk it has many facets, but is it also the inspiration for the latest mystery film of Netflix?

Bron, played by Edward Norton, is an entrepreneur and self-proclaimed genius who has made fortunes with various companies, and delights in confounding those around him with whims and puzzles.

Since the satire premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September, critics have noted some parallels between Bron and Musk, the founder of SpaceX, the controller of Tesla and the recent purchaser of Twitter.

Vanity Fair magazine said the film depicts “the silly and sometimes dangerous messiahs of the tech industry”, calling Miles a mix of Musk and Steve Jobs, while the publication Mashable said that the production is “a subtle and scathing parody of Elon Musk”.

If something sounds familiar, we’re probably talking about you.”, Norton joked at a press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

But I also think Miles is a bit like that Carly Simon song, ‘You’re so vain, you probably think this song is about you.‘”.

I think many (tech billionaires) They’ll think it’s about them. And it’s OK!”.

Writer-director Rian Johnson (“Star Wars: The Last Jedi”) said the character was not based on someone from real life, telling reporters that “making fun of a specific person was not interesting”.

But he said the movie was about “our relationship as a society with these Willy Wonka-like characters who on the one hand we want to throw into elephant poop, but on the other, make us wish in a childish way that they could really create a chocolate factory and solve all our problems”.

Musk has recently drawn criticism for his complicated purchase of Twitter and his early management of the platform.
