Microsoft and Nvidia team up to create the “world’s most powerful” supercomputer with artificial intelligence

Microsoft Y nvidia have announced that they have teamed up to build a supercomputer artificial intelligence (IA) powered by Microsoft Azure infrastructure and which will be one of the “most powerful in the world”.

This team will contain “tens of thousands” of Nvidia graphics units of the A-100 and H100 models, as well as the Quantum-2 InfiniBand network infrastructure with 400GB/s bandwidth and the dedicated Nvidia AI Enterprise software, as this company has pointed out in a statement.

For its part, Microsoft will contribute to its infrastructure in the Azure cloud to build together with Nvidia “one of the most powerful AI supercomputers in the world”. Thus, customers of this service will be able to use different instances of scalable virtual machines.

The companies that use this computer can deploy thousands of graphic units in a single cluster to train models more powerful and data-intensive artificial intelligence.

Microsoft sees this collaboration with Nvidia as a way that “unlocks the world’s most scalable supercomputer platform offering next-generation AI capabilities for all Azure companies”.

For his part, Nvidia’s Vice President of Enterprise Computing, Manuvir Das, believes that this collaboration “will provide researchers and businesses with next-generation AI infrastructure and software to capitalize on the transformative power of the AI”.
