Apple: Company’s Mixed Reality Headset OS Changes Name

Manzana has renamed the operating system that will accompany its first viewer of mixed realitya change that reinforces plans to present this new product next year.

Hitherto known as realityOS, the software that will enable Apple’s viewer to work has been internally renamed as xrOS, in reference to the technology that will enhance it, that is, mixed reality, which mixes the experiences of virtual and augmented reality.

Together with this software, Apple will roll out a third-party app storealthough it will also offer its own services adapted to the new three-dimensional environment, such as FaceTime and the iWork office suite, sources familiar with these plans have told Bloomberg.

Behind the name change is the intensification of work for the presentation of the mixed reality viewer next yearwhich will mean the introduction of a new product category in the Apple catalog since 2015, when they presented the Apple Watch.
