CES 2023: this is ‘Project Carol’, a cushion with surround sound and haptic technology for gamer chairs

Razer unveiled new gear in its lineup designed for gaming, including the Razer Edge Android handheld and Razer Blade 16 and Blade 18 laptops, along with a surround sound and haptic cushion concept for gaming chairs .

Razer Edge and Razer Edge 5G is equipped with a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) that has a 144Hz refresh rate, features focused on its use for video games.

This wearable device is powered by the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 platform, which Has an active cooling system to maintain performance in intensive gaming sessions, as the company has reported in a press release.

Razer Edge, which has been presented within the framework of the CES 2023 fair, will be launched on January 26 in two versions, first in the United States: one with WiFi (Razer Edge), for $399.99, and another with 5G connectivity .

Razer’s line of gaming laptops has been expanded with the new generation of Razer Blade: Blade 16 and Blade 18, both powered by 13th Gen Intel Core i9 HX processor and new Nvidia RTX 40 graphics running at up to 175W TGP and are upgradable with DDR5 5600MHz memory.

The Razer Blade 16 can be configured with a 16-inch HDR-capable dual-mode miniLED display, boasting a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits and a response time of less than 3ms, allowing you to switch between ‘Creator’ and ‘Creator’ modes. Gamer’ as needed.

As explained by Razer, the ‘Creator mode’ allows a sharp native UHD + resolution with a refresh rate of 120Hz, while in the ‘Gamer mode’ it provides an ultra-smooth 240 Hz refresh rate in native FHD +.

For its part, the Razer Blade 18 is presented as Razer’s most powerful laptop, with the capacity to replace the desktop computer, which comes with peripherals such as a 5-megapixel webcam, a set of six speakers with THX Spatial Audio, upgradeable components, a complete selection of connection ports and steam chamber thermal regulation system. It also offers an 18-inch QHD+ display with a 240Hz refresh rate.

Blade 16 and Blade 18 will be available in the first quarter of 2023starting at $2,699.99 and $2,899.99, respectively.

Along with these teams, Razer has presented the ‘Project Carol’ concept, a head cushion with 7.1 surround sound and real-time haptic vibration. It is natively PC compatible and designed to fit all gaming chairs. The company has noted that once connected via 2.4 GHz wireless connection, ‘Project Carol’ provides up to eight hours of gameplay before charging.

Razer has also introduced the Leviathan V2 Pro soundbar, with artificial intelligence technology to track the user’s head. And the Kiyo Pro Ultra webcam, which integrates the large Sony 1/1.2-inch STARVIS 2 sensor to capture more light and image data in each pixel.
