Fans of Pokémon cards fell victim to cybercriminals who posed as an NFT video game

interest in letters Pokemon and non-fungible tokens (NFTs for its acronym in English) has led some users of these collectibles to be victims of a scam that offered to download a new video game of the franchise.

A website designed to look legitimate offered access to a new Pokémon card video game in NFT format; with it, players could get fun and profit.

However, as ASEC analysts explain, the download of the game actually installed a NetSupport trojan that connected to a server controlled by a malicious actor, in order to receive information from the victim’s computer and control it remotely.

This phishing campaign, inspired by the Pokémon game, has been active since last month, according to the analysts who have identified it.
