Don’t know what to ask ChatGPT? A programmer creates 500 sets of instructions to get the most out of AI

It is now available GPT-4the engine behind ChatGPT, the service that allows you to take advantage of all its analysis and generation of texts, and the stories and examples of the things that ChatGPT can do multiply: write stories, write monographs, compose a corporate email, tell jokes and more . GPT-4 adds more abilities, such as the possibility of analyzing an image, recognizing what is seen in it and taking it as data, among many other things.

And all, without knowing how to program: To use ChatGPT you just have to know how to write a series of instructions in English or Spanish, as clearly as possible.. Even so, not all commands will have the same effect: even though ChatGPT is “programmed” with our language, knowing what to specifically ask for, in what order, and according to what parameters, will allow us to obtain results that are more adjusted to what we are looking for. But precisely because it is a system that depends on natural language (the one we speak every day, as opposed to a programming language) there is no list of commands: everything works. But not with the same efficiency.

The good news is that the Peruvian programmer Ignacio Velasquezknown for being the creator of the productivity tool notioncompiled a series of 500 instruction sets (prompts, in the jargon) to ask ChatGPT for specific things. Just copy and paste the order text into the ChatGPT dialog box, and adapt that template to your specific needs.

how to use

The set is published on Velásquez’s site, and can be accessed for free, although the programmer offers a donation box to access the list; If we don’t want to pay, it’s enough to put an e-mail to receive the list, built with Notion, and where all the instructions organized in a thematic way appear. When we find one that seems useful to us, we can use the “Generate” button to enter ChatGPT (which in its basic version is free, but requires registration) and eventually modify the request.

These 500 sets are free to access, and are organized thematicallyand curated by Velásquez: from instructions to help us write a sales email or a blog post, to suggesting recipes with certain foods, or knowing what we can use to replace that ingredient that causes us allergies, going through structures for a publication in Instagram, going through generating dialogues with personalities from history and culture, receiving suggestions on how to enhance the virtues of our company, how to put together a marketing campaign or how to generate the code for a piece of software.

Of course, the best results will be achieved by testing modifications on those original instructions, adding specific data about our interests; also analyzing how the clarity and order in the instructions that we give to ChatGPT result in higher quality results. The good news is that the list curated by Velásquez is not static: its creator will modify and update it depending on how people use it.
