The electric car is not enough for the new CEO of Toyota and points to hydrogen

It is true that the electric car is fashionable. Many countries have already started to change their fleet towards this technology. But there is also another more ecological alternative: hydrogenand it seems to be one of the goals of Koji Sato, the new CEO of Toyota.

Sato will assume the direction of the Japanese giant from April 1, replacing Akio Toyoda, grandson of the founder of the brand. Despite all the movement for electromobility, Toyota has not fully committed to this technology.

“It has to continue to be a viable option,” the new CEO declared to the media, according to a report from the Xataka page, when it comes to hydrogen. And it is that although it is very friendly with the environment, it is not very easy to spread due to lack of infrastructure.

By 2025 they hope to have 200,000 vehicles with a battery from this energy source and then reach 800,000 by 2030. In addition, Toyota talks about 160 hydrogen service stations in Japan, which will increase to 900 by 2030 .

This brand has its MIRAI model, a vehicle that was on tour last year in our city, through the environments of four universities in Lima. Despite its (somewhat more standard) design, the vehicle features a fuel cell (main part of the vehicle), battery, control unit, H2 tank, and electric motor.

In the Toyota project there is also the firm Kawasaki Heavy, whose president is Yasuhiko Hashimoto. “Hydrogen will be an indispensable energy in the future,” said the businessman, referring to this technology.
