Nowadays many people look for alternative solutions to the environment. This is the case of Aurélie Le Clanche and Nicolas Le Dirach, a French couple who have managed to build their house out of cardboard, and without using materials such as concrete.
It is a sustainable and economical alternative to traditional construction, especially if you want to reduce your carbon footprint. The house is located in the town of La Vraie-Croix, in France.

For this work they used a honeycomb cardboard with soundproofing, structural and thermal properties, but without concrete, reported the Ecoinventos page. Additionally, the cardboard structures were installed on metal stilts bolted into the ground to minimize their carbon footprint.
The house stands on a plot of almost 140 square meters, and is made of 80% alveolar cardboard, on a wooden frame. In addition, the IPAC (manufacturer’s trademark) cardboard walls are lined with recycled plastic that reduces heat input and maintains a good interior temperature.
However, although it is a peculiar, ecological and economic solution, the construction of alveolar cardboard houses must consider some studies. And it is that this option is not suitable for all terrains or geographical areas.
