These are the sneakers that Steve Jobs always wore, why did he like them so much?

Steve Jobsthe legendary co-founder of Manzana, was known not only for his technological genius, but also for his distinctive personal style. Always dressed in a black turtleneck, jean pants and signature sneakers, Jobs became an iconic figure in the business world. Although some considered his clothing choice eccentric, he saw it as a way to simplify his life and focus on more important decisions related to his work. He explained it this way in his biography, written by Walter Isaacson:

“Do you know why I always wear a black turtleneck? It’s a uniform. I decided I had a lot of decisions to make every day, so I wanted to simplify my life.”.

In the particular case of footwear, the businessman was famous for using two models of sneakers New Balance: the 991 and the 992. These sneakers, launched in the same years as the revolutionary iPhone, became part of its image during its product presentations. The 991 used them from 2001 to 2006, while the 992 used them from 2007 to 2011.

New Balance sneakers had a special feature that made them popular among Jobs’ followers: they were designed to fit any type of foot, whatever size it was, you were always going to find it. In addition, they carried an American flag, since they were exclusively manufactured in the United States. It is rumored that Jobs was even involved in launching these models, although this has never been officially confirmed.

Although these models were discontinued a few years ago, in 2020 New Balance decided to relaunch the 991 in a retro edition. These shoes, identical to the ones Jobs used to present the first iPhone, are available on the brand’s website for the price of 240 euros.

Although their price may seem high, their historical value and association with the figure of Steve Jobs make them an attractive choice for fans and collectors. However, despite the popularity of New Balance sneakers among Steve Jobs fans, his style isn’t necessarily for everyone.
