88-year-old retiree invents a balcony wind turbine and wins a medal in a contest

A few weeks ago Horst Bendix, a 92 year old retiree, surprised by patenting his own wind turbine that produces three times more electricity. This time, an 88-year-old man created a kit that uses the eolic energy and that is installed on the balconies, for which he was recognized with a silver medal in a contest.

This is Robert Cassegrain, a French retiree known for some inventions for gardening and cooking. This time he worked on a balcony wind turbine that was recognized at the Lépine Competition.

According to the Ecoinventos medium, Cassegrain is known in the world of engineering and has a workshop that creates utensils for daily use. In the kitchen, he made a patented mold for preparing cloth ham and in gardening, he made a shovel to work the land effortlessly, a rake that allows planting in a straight line.

Now his recent award-winning work is inspired by rotating billboards that change with the wind and has another purpose: to create energy.

How does it work? Cassegrain uses a scale model for demonstration purposes. In addition, it has a fan that rotates the propeller at a speed of 20 rpm and, when the sheet that serves as a deflector is raised, the speed triples.

This wind turbine is defined as a terrace device that takes advantage of the compression of the wind. Although he has his own workshop, mass production requires more investment, and he hopes to have business support.
