Apple prepares to launch its augmented reality headset by 2022

The augmented reality (AR) helmet project that Apple is developing will be presented at the end of next year and will integrate a main processor that will have a processing capacity similar to that of a desktop computer of the brand.

As indicated by the analyst specialized in Apple Ming-Chi Kuo in a new report that includes MacRumors, this device will have two processors, one of them of a similar power to the one that integrates the iMac.

The main one will be a high-end processor with “The same level of computing power as Apple’s M1”, in the words of the analyst, according to 9to5Apple. This chip, which was introduced a year ago, will be backed by a lower-end chip, which will take care of manage the operation of the sensors.

The reason they need this power is because the sensor’s computing power is higher than that of the iPhone. “Los auriculars RA require, at least, six to eight optical modules to simultaneously provide RA services of video continuous to users. In comparison, an iPhone requires up to three optical modules running simultaneously and does not require continuous computing. “, has detailed the analyst.

Ming-Chi Kuo has indicated that this helmet will be equipped with of Sony’s 4K micro OLED screens, which will also admit virtual reality (VR) experiences, and has hinted that will work independently, without the need to be connected with another Apple device.

If it is placed only as an accessory for Mac or iPhone, it will not be conducive to the growth of the product. An AR helmet that works independently indicates that it will have its own ecosystem and will provide the most complete and flexible user experience, the analyst has mentioned.
