The 66th edition of the Bal de la Rose, a major social gathering organized in Monaco, has been postponed for the second consecutive year. The Covid-19 health crisis is preventing this event from taking place, the organizer, the Société des Bains de Mer, said on Tuesday.
The 2021 edition focused on the theme of “Bollywood”. It was to be staged by the French shoemaker Christian Louboutin with a “grandiose and poetic decor”. The event has been postponed to March 19, 2022.

Created in 1954, the Bal de la Rose is to launch the festive season in Monaco. It is also a charity event for the benefit of the Princess Grace Foundation, chaired by Princess Caroline. The foundation provides humanitarian aid to disabled children. Each year, around 800 diners who bought their table flock there.
For its part, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Master tennis tournament has been maintained for April, but behind closed doors. The Formula 1 Grand Prix, canceled in 2020, is scheduled for the end of May. For the past two weeks, the construction of its infrastructure has started. However, it is not known whether the race will take place with the public or not, the Monegasque government said.
