Initially planned last month in the Alpes-Maritimes and canceled due to the announcement of new restrictions, the signing by the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, and the president of the metropolis of Nice, Christian Estrosi, of a revival contract and ecological transition was carried out this Thursday in Matignon.
This local variation of the recovery plan implies a commitment from the State to finance infrastructure investments. For Nice and its metropolis, which includes 49 municipalities, the total amount amounts to 2.5 billion euros spread over the next five years, but of which 400 million will be invested from 2021.
An agreement to finance the tram lines and the cable car
This agreement will allow the financing of new tram lines, cycle paths, the construction of the cable car between Nice and Saint-Laurent-du-Var, urban renewal, economic development or the construction of a new police station bringing together the national police and municipal.
During this meeting, Jean Castex promised to take the Paris-Nice sleeper train as soon as it opens. The line was to be put back into service on April 16 after its removal three years ago but the reopening was finally postponed due to the health crisis.
