The US Minister of Health Alex Azar estimated this Friday that the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine against Covid-19 could begin to be administered as of Monday in the United States after the approval of the health authorities. An advisory committee of the American Medicines Agency (FDA) recommended Thursday to authorize this vaccine in the United States, which the agency should do “in the next two days”, according to Alex Azar.
The doses will be delivered directly to hospitals and pharmacies which will vaccinate the two priority groups: residents of retirement homes and professionals in the health sector. An FDA official said the vaccine will not be recommended in the United States for people with a known allergy to any of its ingredients.
The United States is, in absolute value, the country most affected by the pandemic in the world, with 15.6 million cases recorded and more than 292,000 deaths, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University, which are the benchmark.
