Big twist in Donald Trump’s trial. Saturday morning, when it seemed to be heading for a quick vote to acquit the former US president, the senators voted by 55 votes to 45 to request the hearing of witnesses. Democratic prosecutors in particular want to hear under oath the Republican elected Jaime Herrera Beutler, who reported Friday evening a critical telephone conversation between Donald Trump and Kevin McCarthy during the assault on Capitol Hill on January 6.
